I will try to present in simple steps, a practical way to win ISTQB certification.
Step 1:
Go to http://www.istqb.org/members.htm and find out the board in your country
Step 1:
Go to http://www.istqb.org/members.htm and find out the board in your country
Step 2:
For eg: I selected http://www.astqb.org/ which is the board for U.S.A.
Indian testers can visit it here http://www.istqb.in/exam_date.php
Step 3:
Download the free syllabus & glossary from the site http://www.astqb.org/educational-resources/syllabi.php && http://www.astqb.org/educational-resources/glossary.php
(According to my knowledge syllabus is the same in all countries)
Step 4:
Register to write the exam. Select a date accordingly so that you have enough time to prepare for the exam.
Step 5:
After studying the syllabus & Glossary (line by line & word by word) .go through some sample questions. You can find many sample questions in scribd.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/2952020/ISTQB-sample-question-paperspart-1
DO NOT miss the sample questions in the istqb site.
http://www.astqb.org/certified-tester/certification.php
While going through the sample question, take of note of those questions you failed to answer & go through that particular part in the syllabus again & again.
Step 5:
I have given a list of books useful for certification referred by the site. These books can be read if needed. But the right mixture for success is Syllabus + Glossary+ Sample Questions
Step 6:
You will often have questions about path coverage & statement coverage. Go through some exercise about the same. I will try to include some of them in my coming posts.
